Most contractors avoid curved walls because they're harder to tape without the curve showing through in raking light. It's one of the jobs we specifically take on, finished to a Level 5 standard with no visible bumps or flat spots.
Coffered ceilings get the same treatment: sharp, consistent inside and outside corners on every coffer, brought up to Level 4 or Level 5 depending on the lighting and paint sheen the homeowner is using.
A Level 5 finish isn't the standard for every job. It's a full skim coat over the entire surface, used where lighting is harsh or paint will be glossy enough to show every flaw underneath.

Questions About Taping & Finishing
What's the difference between a Level 4 and Level 5 finish?
Level 4 is standard taping and two coats over the joints. Fine for most walls under flat paint. Level 5 adds a thin skim coat over the entire surface, which is what you want under raking light, high-gloss paint, or LED lighting that shows every imperfection.
Can you finish curved walls?
Yes. Curved walls are harder to tape evenly, which is why a lot of contractors won't take them on. We finish them to the same Level 5 standard as a flat wall.
Do you finish coffered ceilings as part of a taping job?
Yes. Coffered ceilings need sharp, consistent corners on every coffer, finished to Level 4 or 5 depending on the room's lighting, same as any other taping job.
