Ceiling Repair

A sagging ceiling, a water stain, or a hairline crack is rarely just cosmetic. It's usually a sign of something underneath that needs fixing first.

Coffered ceilings need a different level of care than a flat ceiling: every inside and outside corner has to be sharp and consistent, finished to Level 4 or 5 depending on the room's lighting.

Popcorn ceilings are their own category (see our skim coating page for why we usually laminate over them instead of scraping). For everything else, cracks from a failed plaster base, water stains, sagging sections, we diagnose what's actually causing the problem before we touch a trowel.

FAQ

Questions About Ceiling Repair

Do you finish coffered ceilings?

Yes. Coffered ceilings require sharp, consistent corners on every coffer, which we finish to Level 4 or Level 5 depending on the room's lighting and paint.

How do you diagnose a water stain or sagging ceiling before repairing it?

We look at what's actually causing it, a failed plaster base, a slow leak, or structural sagging, before touching a trowel. Repairing over the cause just means doing the same repair again later.

Do you handle popcorn ceiling repairs the same way as smooth ceilings?

No, popcorn ceilings are their own category. We usually laminate over them with new sheetrock instead of scraping and repairing the existing texture. See our skim coating page for why.
